Hi, I've just started a job where my first task was to install a 570 that had actually been installed the previous week but was sent back to IBM for repair and returned. When I powered the system up a new managed system popped up on the HMC next to the one that was already there. This created some sort of conflict between the two and I ended up having to go directly to the ASM (bypassing the HMC which refused) to change the IP of the FSP.

It's working now but I just cannot delete the 'ghost' 570 on the HMC. It just says 'failed' after 30 seconds. How do I get around this?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried from command line?

ssysconn –r all (lists all known managed systems with attributes)

rmsysconn –o remove –ip <ipaddr from lssysconn list>

Thanks. I get this:

hscroot@ccxthmc01:~> lssysconn -r all
HSCL7007 The connection information in the database is corrupted. Shut down and restart the Hardware Management Console.

Doesn't look good. Is it safe do reboot?

Thanks

An HMC can be rebooted without repercussion to its managed server(s). But until you get it to work properly, you won't be able to modify anything on the managed server.

My concern is rather that if something is corrupted it might get worse be rebooting...

HMC can be rebuilt if necessary.
If the connection info in the database is corrupt, chances are it will be re-populated on reboot. It won't get any worse by rebooting.
