Just recently, when in Outlook Express at home, I delete messages, empty the Deleted Messages folder, but when I check again for new messages, all messages I've deleted come back again. These 'offending messages' are being sent to my office account, which I have set up to receive at home. I'm not aware of any settings changes having been made. This is driving me crazy! Any ideas?!?

TIA

Rik

Sounds like you're synchronizing work with home and the deleted items at work aren't being deleted, just the ones at home.

techsupportgirl@home.com
<a href=
Did you find a solution to this problem, as I am having it also. I made sure in Outlook 200-Accounts-Mail-Properties, that the Save Copies of Messages on Server was not checked, but that did not do the trick. VERY Annoying.

Wow - my original post was so long ago I had forgotten all about it! I found that deleting mail wasn't enough. You have to empty the trash. And that's not enough. Then you have to check for new mail again. It's the checking for new mail process that removes messages from the server.

Yes, checking for new empties, if Leave Copy of Messages on Server for X days is not checked in Tools-Accounts-Properties-Advanced in Outlook 2000. Meanwhile, after the X days none of the mail clients you use to check the server should download the messages older than X.

My problem was that Outlook would download messages it had already dowloaded, and that I had read. This was obviously wrong no matter how long copies were left on mail server. Reinstalll did not fix, BUT unistall followed by reinstall did fix the problem. Outlook 2000 was obviously corrupt.
