CAn't create table

I have installed Mysql on my university unix machines.Beause I have no access to /usr/local,so I have put in under /home/masters/2001/...
Now I can run Mysql but when I use mysqladmin create database01 it gives me errors.Do I have to configure (I've tried but configuration is denied)
