I have two dbf files, contacts.dbf and emails.dbf
I have indexed both of these dbf files on their
common field called IP_ADDRESS.

When I add them both to crystal reports, it won't
allow me to add the links, so I'm stuck because I
need the contact info from my contact.dbf file and
need to print the corresponding email info from
my emails dbf file for my report.

The 2 dbf files I'm using are an old dos version,
could that be the problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

I guess you can report successfully on each individual table?
What happens when you try to link - do you get an error message?
Are you linking to the top field in the contacts db? Icytrue

DOS DBFs should be fine, but unless the index is the same name as the dbf, crystal might not see the index. You then have to add the index to each table manually. You will know there is an index when the indexed field has a little tab on it in the visual lining window. If the fields aren't 'tabbed', right click on each table and select "add Index" and then browse to the appropriate IDX/NDX/NTX file. Ken Hamady

I tried right clicking on my contacts.dbf file
and my emails.dbf file and the menu option to
add index is disabled.

What if you right click and go into the desctiption. Can you click the ADD button in this window?

What if you rename the index to be the same as the report and try creating a new report, does it give you the index tab? Ken Hamady

The Add button is disabled when I right click, and go
into description.

At present my reports are called contact.rpt and
emails.rpt and my indexes are called contact and emails

The indexes should match the name of the DBF, not the name of the RPT. How did you create the indexes? Are these Foxpro or Dbase? Ken Hamady
