Hey all,

I'm trying to create an alias (an easily remembered alias) for a workstation that my users will be accessing using a web browser. I went into my DNS to create a CNAME but I get the following error when I click on OK:

A new record cannot be created.
An alias (CNAME) record cannot be added to this DNS name. The DNS name contains records that are incompatible with the CNAME record.

Can someone please tell me how to create an alias on my network for this workstation?

Thanks,

Joe B

JBruyet,

Are you sure the name you're trying tp create doesn't already exists? Can you give me an example of what you're trying to do?

Regards,

Michael

LLLLL OOO LLLLL !

I never even thought of that. I just checked and sure enough there's a workstation with that name on my network. Man, how many times has it been the little thing that I overlook???

Thanks,

Joe B
