can't console in to bln 71000

HI,
I am new here.
My Bay networks gateway router BLN 71000 died. Backup is in place, but I can't get in to the console port.
My console port is a parrallel, book says to connect to serial port on a PC.
I get no prompt with hyperterm or Tera Term.

Thanks for any advice.

I think db25 connector on the processor card in the BLN is a serial port.

I looked around and found this cable guide. Hope it helps

Thanks Whiskeytrain! useful document, I can verify using correct cable now. I think I have the right one, though, previous individual left it attached to the old unit.

Do you know what the red "fail" light on my cards means?
fiber comes in to a card labeled "ARE Sonet/SDH" Also a red fail light on ESAF-4 card with ports on it. both cards are new, I also have matching cards from old BLN 71000.
