I have just set up the new ACT 2005 for workgroups on my windows 2003 server. I have loaded my remote database on my laptop and can sync if I'm connected to the network. But, if I try to connect by VPN with a mapping to the database directory, it comes back with an error that reads " Unable to connect to the sync server, contact your administrator for assistance". I can't do that, I am the administrator! Does anyone have any clues as to what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance
Annette

Are you using Premium for workgroups? If so you can use the network sync tool to publish the database on the network, otherwise you have to leave the database open in ACT in order to sync with it.

I am using Premium for workgroups, with the sync server running on the server. I have tried everything I can find on the knowledgebase and like I said, I can sync fine as long as I'm on the network, but it's a no go if I try it VPN. I'm setting this up for the salesmen and they will all be accessing it by VPN so this is a "big" issue!
