Can't connect to SQL 2000 server after svc pak 3 installed

I have a windows 2000 server that runs ODBC connections ( TCP/IP type) to a different win2k server with SQL-2000 on it ( both on same network). Before I installed service pack 3 on both, connections ran perfectly well. But after the service pack was installed, I can only connect to the SQL-2000 server (via ODBC)if I'm a member in the ADMIN group on the local win2k server. I've got MDAC 2.7 installed on local sever. What will I have to do to allow the connections again?
