I rebuilt a server and now when I run Sharepoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard (WSS 3.0) and select connect to an existing farm. I select the server and it shows the database I need to connect to but it only wants to connect using NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE as the user and I have no clue what that password is.

Any one know how to get by this issue?

Try running the Sharepoint service under a known domain user that has the right permission set for the service.

I have tried using Domain Admin, Ent Admin, local Admin, and sa. All have failed. The wizard actually auto populates the username NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE if that helps out.

Check to make sure the Network Service has access to the SQL database.

Does anyone know of some decent articles eplaining the steps to set the above up?

Beefstew,

The latest files are fairly straight forwarded compared to the old ones. I followed some article from the microsoft site to secure active directory and using specific accounts for each of the services. Everything ran smoothly after I did that. I had the same problem as you before but I basically stuck to the windows authentication and put together the server from scratch a few times until I got the recent WSS 3.0 install from microsoft.
