Can't connect to PIX 515E

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Cisco PIX. I just got a PIX 515E with 3 ports and I was trying to connect to the PIX but I'm unable to establish a connection with the PIX.

I have connect the RJ45 into the console port on the PIX and connected the flat RJ45 cable that came with the PIX into the DB9 and plugged the DB9 into the serial port. I have try to use HyperTerm to connect to the PIX with the following settings:
com1
bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None

when i use HyperTerm, HyperTerm say that it is connected and then timer is running but all i see is just a white screen and a cursor

Hmm... The flat cable shold be directly connected to the pix and the host (using the DB9 adaptor).
NO OTHER ethernet cables/switch should be used, ONLY the flat cable and the DB9 adaptor.

Did you try to press Enter?

Is COM1 enabled on the machine? (could be disabled in BIOS).
If you have 2 serial ports, try using each. Maybe you think that you use COM1 but it is actually COM2.

I've try pressing the enter key already.. nothing happens

I only have one com port and COM1 is enabled


any clue on what I'm doing wrong??

Just to be sure - the other side of the flat cable is connected directly to the pix console port. Right?

I figured out that there was something wrong with the DB9 adaptor.
