If one is connected through Matworxs to an NEC NEAX 2000 IPS and the serial cable gets pulled out from the computer, then the only way to re-connect to the PBX is by restarting it. As my system is a heavy user system, I do not have the luxury of restarting this should this happen as it has in the past. Does anyone know another way of re-establishing a connection without restarting the phone system? Or some code maibe through CAT mode to reset this connection. Would be seriously helpful.
Thanks,
Simon

Never had that problem. Usually when you reconnect it sees the connection come back on line and all is OK. There is nothing in the system that blocks a connection or for that matter even registers a connection. You can talk to the system with a dumb terminal and connect and disconnect as much as you wish. Matworx sees the disconnection and notifies you but that is all. Now on the big system it is a different matter but you can get round that one.

Thanks Ozzie.

When this happens, I can connect with hyperterminal for example but not with Matworks which seems odd. This also happened once when the computer crashed when it was connected to the PBX. Upon restarting the computer, I could no longer connect to the PBX via Matworxs until I restarted the phone system.

What do you mean by "on the big system"?

Thanks

I meant the IMX and IPX systems, they have a module that runs on the pabx and if you get disconnected you have trouble getting back in unless you stop that application or restart the computer. Your situation with Matworx does sound odd though!

You can go to the services on the PC, find the com port that MatworX is using and stop it there without rebooting the PC.

Well it happened again, the server crashed and after that I could not connect to the NEC. There is no service running in windows and even when I try to use another computer I cannot connect. I can connect with hyperterminal which makes me conclude that this must be on the NEC rather than the computer. Any other thoughts on this? Thanks

Strange I will check this tomorrow but I'm sure that over the weekend I had this situation and it just reconnected. Could it be related to the amount of time before you see that you are disconnected?

May well be. For example if you pull out the cable while connected and then close down MATWorx you will get the same scenario. However, if you pull out the cable and then just plug it back in again, it will automatically connected again as long as you dont do anything else in Matworx. If your computer crashed however while connected then once you start this up again, it is not going to reconnect again as it must somehow still think that the connection is still open.
