I have a w2000 server, running sql2000 and IIS5. If i connect to it remotely to administer it (using internet service manager) its fine, i can administer it and do everything you would expect. It is also running a web application almost perfectly (there is a small problem with it) which i can access via Internet Explorer.
If I load up IIS.msc on the server itself (logged in as domain admin) it wont let me connect to the local host and tells me:
" Error connecting to <server>:
The system cannot find the path specified
Do you wish to continue to attempt to connect to it in the future?"
The same thing happens if once your into the console you try to conenct to it. However, from the server i can connect to other IIS servers across the network!
I colleage of mine has tried an uninstall & reinstall in an attempt to fix it but it to no avail.
Anybody else come across this before?
