Any help would be great...

When I try to connect to the domain, it asks me to login but then says that the resource is no longer available... Thanks

Check your DNS settings. Although you can ping by name, it could be NetBIOS based name resolution

Hi, thanks for repies... :D

After a bit of googling I found that I should have my server ip in my hosts file in my system32 directory. I added this and it seemed to have solved the problem...

20 mins later tho and similar, but not the same problem.

I can ping server, I can connect to server but I cannot view my folder that is on the server...

There are red events in event viewer for DNS. After looking through a few my server freezes and I have to force a re-start...

Is there anything from those events I should paste here that could help like error codes..?

Thanks again

Luke

Hi Paul

Yes it is. I had so much trouble with it yesterday that I removed Active directory. I am re-installing it now to see if that helps...

If not, do you think something as drastic as a fresh OS install will help..?

Cheers

Luke

Have re-installed AD and have one user connecting to their shares with no problems. Am going to start adding more users this afternoon...

...fingers crossed

I am now having the same trouble again...

Everything seems fine until I open a certain database on a client. The database hangs then I end task on Access to close it. After this procedure neither this user or myself can access the server. We can both ping it by name and IP but not browse...

The database is access 2007, it is 4.7MB and is in a folder where both myself and the other user have full control...

Any ideas..?

Thanks

Luke

*UPDATE

This problem occurs whenever I open an Access 2007 database. I have opened 100MB PDFs, spreadsheets, numerous images, etc all fine, but if I try and open an .mdb it falls over and I have to restart the server to get access again...

Thanks

Luke
