I have installed MySQL 4.1.9 and MyOCDB 3.5.1 on Windows XP SP2. I copied a database into it and can see the DBs using MySQL Administrator and MySQL Query Browser

I have created a Machine DSN in ODBC using the MySQL ODBC 3.5.1 driver and the test button produces the "Success; Connection was made!" message.

But when I try to connect to the MySQL DSN through Visio, Access or Crystal Reports I get the error message "Could not determine the driver name so could not lookup setup library."

What do I need to do to connect other applications to MySQL?

When you say machine DSN, do you mean system DSN ?.
Can you post your connection string please ?

Yes, it is a System DSN. How do I determin what the connection string is?

I am having the same exact problem trying to use MyODBC 3.5.1. Everythings sets up and tests fine in "ODBC Data Source Adminstrator". I am trying to connect via Visual FoxPro, but have also tried Excel just to make sure it wasn't VFP. I get the same exact error message.

When you setup and "User DSN" or "System DSN" you enter all the info that normally makes up a connection string. So you don't actually use a connection string. I connect to MS-SQL by using a DSN and no connection string.

Also, MyODBC 2.5 works fine with everthing by setting it up the same way in the ODBC Administrator.
