Using IE 6.0 w/all updates installed. User logs onto Yahoo! Games, can click through until he comes to actually clicking on a game room link. At this point, just clicking on the link gives him a little warning beep - no message. He has to hold down the control key while he is clicking in order to make the link work. I've tried this on my machine w/o any problems. The only difference I've noticed between the two PCs is his has options for VM on this security and advanced options, and I don't. Can anyone tell me what's causing this? Thanks!

Yahoo games is Java is it not? Try reinstalling Java on his machine.

Try reinstalling Java VM and also check your Accesability options in windows control panel.

This might be a long shot, but those beeps sound like a software called Pop-Up Stopper (or a similar software). When you open a second IE window, look down at your taskbar where your clock is and see if there is an icon that reacts.

Holding the CTRL key when opening another window is the setting in that particular Pop-Up Stopper software.

"In space, nobody can hear you click..."

Reddlefty, this was right on. As soon as I read your post, I knew that was the answer. Checked system tray and user is running Pop-Up Stopper. I stopped it and no more problem. Thanks!
