I just got our system up and received our new checks, i was trying to align the check form using crystal just to get it perfect.

anyway about the 5th attempt at setting the alignment up, it said that mas90 ran out of memory or something like that and couldn't complete the task, i closed mas90 and restarted it, and now i can't get it to go to the bank code that i want to print checks from, and it says "bank code in use by antoher task".

if have read everything on the forum that pertains to this, but i either don't understand or i can't edit the file that everyone is talking about.

anyway, i am using mas90w version is 4.0

please help, i'd rather not have to restore from last nights backup if i could help it.

thank you!

bank code in use by antoher task" can be caused by lots of processes.

I would go into master console, see who is in what, and kill all tasks in AP, AR, or PO.

The task that locked up may still be running, so kill it if you see it.

Thank you for your response ChaZ

However there is no one on the system except for me, and there is no tasks that i can see.

If you have any other ideas that would be great.

Is there a file that i can just delete or something as easy as that?

Are you sure about the error?

If so, this is probably not it, but is it at all possible that a tape backup has the file locked, waiting for a tape change? This has actually happened to me, twice.

If the error is check printing in progress, there is a flag some where that you can set, but I am not sure where it is.

If thats the error, I will try to find the solution.

I appreciate it very much ChaZ

The file was locked by the computer while I was adjusting the print layout this morning, by saying that the there wasn't enough memory to complete the task, it was actually when i saved the change to the form thru crystal reports, and then going and printing an alignment page thru the check printing process. so it most definetly was me that caused the problem, and not a tape backup issue, our backups are done at approx 10pm each night.

anyway, if you could find out something about the flag issue, because i'm sure that that is all that it is, that would be great. I have heard from my IT guys and they are having problems getting the tape backup to restore now, isn't that just great! Main cause for this, is just that we are pretty much all new to the system we just went up on MAS90W January 2005, and we haven't had any problems until now.

but there is no time that is a good time right!

I will take a look.

In the mean time, if your server is showing a lock on that file, (Probably called XXXGLW (XXX being the company code) as Mas suggests, maybe rebooting the server it's self would solve the problem.

I will look into the flag in the mean time.

i appreciate it very much.

my IT dept finally was able to at least get me backup!

so now i start my task of redoing everything that I have done this morning, oh well.

I think i might tackle the check thing again, and see if i can't break the darn thing one more time! ha ha

everything you can do is very much appreciated.
