cant chmod dir with r-xr-xr-x permissions.

Hi there,

logged on as root...
have dir...
dr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 1 Aug 4 15:28 rpipc
dr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 1 Aug 4 15:28 rpi
dr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 1 Aug 4 15:28 mva

try to chmod it to sort out the permissions because even as root i cannot cd into the dir...
get...
scotty[3]:/part50> chmod 777 rpi
chmod: WARNING: can't change rpi

help please!!

From the dir listed above, try;
chmod 777 ./rpi

Silly question probably, but it's not a remote share is it?
- type 'mount' to check.
