Hi,

I'm using a Dell latitude d400 with Windows 2000.

The DVD-ROM is a HL-DT-ST extrenal drive.

The region is stuck on '1' but I need it on '2' - no matter how many times you change it, the change is not applied and the 'number of times you are allowed to change the region' does not decrease at all - it stays at '4 changes remaining'.

Also - when changing the region, the apply button stays greyed out.

I have full admin rights to the machine, so can't understand why it won't change. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Paul C

Since it's an external drive, try changing it on a different workstation. You may need to go out to the drive manufacturer's site and get the latest firmware for the drive as well.

You might also want to take a look at software that effectivley removes the region code. I've had success in the past with slyfox Also, echoing what cdogg said, check the manufacturers site for firmware updates. You can also google around to see if a third party has written a firmware verison without the region code restriction (read this i have had success in the past doing this, but i also know people who have killed their drives doing it. Good luck!
