Can't change print settings on the fly - 8400

I have just added a Xerox Phaser 8400 to my Novell 6 network. Everything appears to have gone well - no errors, etc. However, I can't change the printer properties on the fly - for example, if I want to change the number of copies from inside Word, and then print, although there are no errors, the printer just never prints. It's like it goes to the twilight zone. If I close the app and go back in to print 1 copy, everything prints fine. This happens with all apps on all workstations. If I change the properties through START - SETTINGS -PRINTERS and then open my app and print, it works fine.

I have connected the printer directly to my workstation and it works perfectly.

The printer was attached to a LANPress Print server, but I have replaced that with an HP JetDirect print server, because I thought it might be a compatibility problem. But the same problem occurs.

Note: this does not happen on any of my other printers - just the one and only Xerox Phaser. Maybe a drivers issue, but I have downloaded updated drivers from Xerox - also it is the same driver I use when connected directly to the printer - which works fine.

I didn't get any response on the Novell forum - I hope I have better luck here.

Thanks
Leslie

Are you using a NetWare print q? I haven't used NetWare in 6 years. We just got our Phaser on Thursday (runing on an NT 4.0 network, queue on an NT server, connectivity using the Xerox native network card/print server via lpr), and all of my settings are working just fine. We've done single, multiple, collate, not-collate, tray selection, manual feed all from the normal 'print' dialogue. I'm sorry I don't have a better suggestion.
