I created 3 dts scripts. One calls another one. When I call the first one myself it errors out when it calls the secone with this message:

Step Error Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Step Error Description:The specified DTS Package ('Name = 'RefreshFiles-Part1'; ID.VersionID = {581AF91B-BB53-4DC4-BA91-9CD3A9723AF7}.{[not specified]}') does not exist.
Step Error code: 80040E14
Step Error Help File:
Step Error Help Context ID:0

Any ideas

Have you made certain that the called package is named ...RefreshFiles-Part1?

Thanks

J. Kusch

Yes. I just went into it and picked the file again, and saved it. It worked ok. It seems like when you chnge a package that sql looses it's identity as referred to by another package. Then you have go back and pick it again.

BTW: I am using SQL 2000 with SP3a.

We have encountered this before. it really does not lose the reference, it just references the old version of the package. anytime you change a underlying package, its saves it a completely new one with a different guid. The top package still references the prior one. it does not know the package has changed. you then have to go select the latest verion of the package.
