Can't browse with IE except in safe mode

When I try to browse with IE (the only browser I have), I get page not found. I can ping

http://www.yahoo.com.

So I know I have a good conneciton. I can even connect to my job via VPN.

One suggestion I read on the net was to repair IE by going into Add/Remove software. But I don't have IE in there.

But if I come up in safe mode, I can use IE and browse all day long.

The important difference in Safe Mode is that the RUN keys in the registry are not processed.

This sounds like malware. See faq608-4650
