Hi

The problem i have is that when i try to backup my openvms ia64 8.31h1 from the windows legato backup server i get access denied sometimes and sometimes it runs like it should

start a backup from the client :

save -vs <servername> <path to save>

Check for any error messages.
Check your daemon.raw file for any error messages.
The behavior of your openVMS box could point to name resolution related problems.
Check your aliasese of the server and your local hosts files.

Sorry for not responding (have been home sick.....)
A brief description
Have hit a NSR-agent from Jan-2010 Intermittent failure, x number of disks has not been backed. There have been various disks that have done wrong.

After updating the NSR-agent to "7.3.4 ECO5" (who was released from the EMC-Sept 2010) so it has become better results.
Legato vs. VMS Itanium works just fine for 2-3 days, then you get "access denyed" NSR-agent on Itanium stops responding.
After restarting the NSR-agent on Itanium, so it works 2-3 days again.
This is the situation today ...

There are a few Patches for networker 7.5.3 and 7.6 available dealing with openVMS RPC Timeouts.
Have a look at ftp://ftp.legato.com/pub/NetWorker/Cumulative_Hotfixes/ftp://ftp.legato.com/pub/NetWorker/Cumulative_Hotfixes/
and give them a try...
