Please help!

I recently purchased BackUp 8.5 exec. I’ve had nothing but problems. I was using UltraBac and wish we hadn’t spent so much money on Veritas. Anyway….

We run all NT 4.0 servers.

I have a Terminal Server with MetaFrame 1.8. Until recently all the drives backed up every night. About 5 days ago I started getting the error message:

Unable to attach to \\WINFRM1\E$

The service account is a domain admin. I tired changing the “Default attach as”. Still won’t back up.

There were two shares that really need to be backed up so I added them to the “User-Defined Shares”. When I click on them I get the pop-up that prompts me for the domain\user name. NO MATTER WHAT I ENTER it comes back.

From the server that has Veritas installed I open the run window I type in the UNC of the share and I get access. I check the security log when the BU fails and there are no security violations.

This is driving me crazy! It’s the only server I’m having problems with.

And BTW Veritas Tech support is not very responsive.

Did you evere get a soloution to this? I'm having the same problem!!

Try stopping the server service and then restart the service.

I also experienced this and after stopping the service and
restarting it it worked.

Hi ::)

I've had the same Problem in a mixed NT4-W2k Evironment, but I found a solution at the Veritas KnowledgeBase.

It seems that the password database of BackupExec is corrupt and you have to reset it. To do so delete or rename the file: BEWINUI.UNI in "Backup Exec\Nt\Data"
