Cant add XP client to samba PDC

When I try to add my XP workstation to my samba PDC I Get the error: The following error occured when trying to join the domain "lincux": Logon failure: unknown username or bad password. I have applied the XP registry patch for samba, and corrected the policy issues. I have also made sure that root has a smbpasswd setup. I am running FC4.
below is my conf file:

also I tried just accessing \\lincpdc and using root and the password I cant even get a listing of the shares.

What is effective user id of the nmbd and smbd process ?
you have permissions issue with /etc/samba/smbpasswd.

uid is 0 for both processes.
permissions are set as root for owner and -rw---------

I cannot access the share with smbclient as root either says NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

I figure it out.
SELinux was installed and blocking access to the smbd service. disabled SELinux for that service and it works
