I've inherited this novell network so please bear with me... I need to know how to add a printer to the novell network but don't know where to start. The only info I've got is in order to do this I have to add a printer server, a print que and a printer. I'm in the Novell Administrator utility and I can't find any way that lets me do this. If someone can stear me in the right direction it would be greatly aprreciated.

In NWAdmin, click ont the OU where you want the Printer to reside in. Goto the TOOLS menu and find PRINT SERVICES QUICK SETUP (NON NDPS). Find your existing print server object and select it. Fill in the other details ie name, q etc according to your standards and you're pretty much done. Dont worry about messing it up you easliy delete the objects and start again. If you want more detailed info goto the Novell wesite.

Thats where my problem is, when i highlight the OU and go to tools, there is no "PRINT SERVICES QUICK SETUP" I had read the online documentaion and I am still stuck becuase the option to setup printers is non-existant, but there are printers previously setup here in novell.

Sounds like your login doesn't have the correct permissions. Are you logging in as Administrator or as a user? If as user, do you have security equivalence to Admin or Tree Manager; or trustee rights to ROOT?

i'm logged in to novell as administrator, thats part of why this is so confusing, I'm the task I want to do is easy, but it's getting there that has been a problem

Just a shot in the dark, try starting NWAdmin with the /disabletlsmgr switch. That fixes a problem with NDPS, maybe it affects queue-based as well.

z:\win32\nwadmn32.exe /disabletlsmgr

Also, can you verify that Admin is a trustee of [Root]? The uppermost level of the tree is [Root], rightclick, select Trustees of this Object. Administrator should be in the list.
