Hey all, I have a user running Outlook 2003 connecting to an MS Exchange 2007 server. She would like to be able to add notes to global contacts that are on the server and I don't see how she can do that. Is this even possible?
Hi fumei, maybe I should explain a little more clearly about what she wants to do. She's the administrative assistant for one of our managers and she would like to be able to open the manager's contact (off of the Exchange Server) and add information like secondary phone number or address or ??? She can open the contact, and she can put a cursor in a field (the field isn't grayed out) but nothing she types shows up in the Contact.
The manager needs to delegate acccess to his contacts properly.
In (manager's) Outlook: Tools/Options
Select Delegates tab
See if the assistant appears as a delegate (if she doesn't, she has probably been granted some permissions by the Exchange administrator, but those don't always provide all the delegation rights). If she isn't there, add her.
Modify all the delegate permissions as per the requirements of the manager - for the Contacts folder, this would need to be 'Editor' to allow her to modify his contacts
Hi strongm, she isn't modifying his contacts. What she wants to be able to do is modify his Global Contact that sits on the Exchange Server. I understand the process of sharing a calendar or a task list but this is different. I will try adding her as a delegate and see what happens.
The Global Address List does not actually contain contacts in the sense that you seem to mean. It contains Active Directory entries (which don't 'belong' to anyone), that are presented as contacts. Normal users are not allowed to modify Active Directory.
