Everytime I try to create a new user account, I get an error telling me the account aready exists.  I know that it doesnt exist because it's not on my user list.  I also get the same error when trying to add a new computer name to the domain.  I'm ready to throw the computers out the window.

I might be all wet here, but I recall reading that you can't reuse an account.  If you set up a user, then delete it, you cannot reuse that user name again.  You won't see the deleted account on your user list, but it knows.

It doesnt matter what name I give the account. I can name it Jackass and it comes back saying the account already exists.

I've just taken over as administrator for this company.&nbsp;&nbsp;It's a one person position and I have no idea when you could create a new user account.&nbsp;&nbsp;As for the service pack I have re-installed sp6 no help there.&nbsp;&nbsp;Havent tried copying one yet but I still should be able to create a brand new one.&nbsp;&nbsp;I also ran into a similar problem trying to add a computer name in srvr manager.&nbsp;&nbsp;It also told me the name already existed when it didn't.&nbsp;&nbsp;I'm lost on this one.

JDS71 -<br><br>Come to think of it . . . in Server Manager, you can get those types of messages if there are 'Hidden' files.&nbsp;&nbsp;Try looking at these links.&nbsp;&nbsp;They may be helpful.<br><br><A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> HREF=" TARGET="_new">

Thanks for all the help.&nbsp;&nbsp;It seems the SAM was corrupt and to fix this I had to promote on of my BDCs and demote my PDC.&nbsp;&nbsp;The new PDC successfully rebuilt the SAM and I then repeated the promote demote process to get back to original configuration.&nbsp;&nbsp;
