I have a Sparc20 server running Sol 2.5.1 and using "s5" print protocal and serving, among other things, as a network print server. The problem is that I'm upgrading a number of Sparc20 workstations to Sun Blades 100 running Sol 8 while still using the Sparc20 print servers. It apprears the Sol 8 only supports "bsd" print protocal and though I change my server to "bsd" using "lpsystem -t bsd" I still can't talk to the laser printer served by the Sparc20 server. Does 2.5.1 actually support "bsd" printing? Does 2.5.1 need a patch or something to support "bsd". From what I'be been able to gather, "bsd" in only really supported on Sol 2.6 and later.
Any helpful thoughts or commets are greatly appreciated.
Thanks All.
P.S. Currently I have Sparc20 workstations on 2.5.1 and Sparc20 Servers on 2.5.1 all using the "s5" print protocal and I can print fine to the network laser.
