I've installed IIS on a dev machine, as i've done plenty of times before. Set up for anonymous access.

Except.....it asks for a password. And even when I supply it with a valid username and password, it fails. I've no idea why at all!

Any ideas, anyone?

Have you checked the permissions of the IIS user (IUSR_MACHINENAME by default) on the C:\inetpub subfolders?

If you're using net framework, there is another user for it, called asp.net, but his access can be controlled with the aspnet_regiis utility.

Version of IIS?
