I've set up Redhat 7.1 and can ping the box from other computers, but can't telnet or ftp from Win2000 or Win98. I can do all this locally and my xinetd.d/telnet/wu-ftpd files are enabled. Nothing in hosts.deny and hosts.allow is ALL:ALL. I'm on a local network (all computers are like 192.168.0.x).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

Its probably firewalled. RH7.1 seems to have an ipchains-based firewall setup by default. As root, from a console window enter 'lokkit' and configure the firewall to allow inbound ports 23 (telnet) and 21 (ftp) plus outbound port 20 (ftp-data). 'gnome-lokkit' may also work for an even friendlier 'X' version of the config.

Hope this is of help
