Can't access Internet from Server

Windows 2003 Standard Server...

This server is connected to a network that has T-1 Internet access. It had been accessing the Internet OK until I just checked now. Now I can't get the server to connect to the Internet. IE (on the server) just brings up nothing and any other apps that have to access the Internet don't work.

The T-1 connection is fine because all the clients on the LAN can accesss the Internet. And they are also all able to access that server through the LAN.

Everything seems to be working great except that suddenly I can't access the Internet from that server.

ipconfig returns an ip starting with 192 ... looks fine
when i try to ping

http://www.yahoo.com,

it says "Ping request could not find host."

How can I fix this? I'm a finance guy not in IT so please be gentle. ;-)

Does IPCONFIG /ALL return the correct DNS settings as well?

That may be it. We switched to another T-1 provider and I changed DNS settings in my firewall, but not on the server. Does that have to be changed too?

The DNS that is shown with ipconfig/all is different than the one I have in the firewall (which is the correct one). Does that mean it's wrong?

How can I change this to see if it is the problem?

There are 2 DNSs shown when I do the ipconfig /all
The first one is the server IP itself and the second one is what MAY be our old providers IP. So I assume I need to change that second one to the primary DNS of our new provider? If this is right...please tell me how to change it.

Also...I notice that DHCP is NOT enabled on the server but IS enabled on the clients. And the clients only list the servers IP as the DNS. Does this make sense?

That did it! No need to respond. I changed the DNS and it works like a charm!

It makes perfect sense. The server will have a static IP address so most times it won't be using DHCP to get it's DNS settings.

Right click on the "network neighborhood" icon on the server desktop and select properties. Then select the TCP/IP protocol in the window and click on properties again.

The window that comes up will have your DNS settings and you can change them here.

You could also select the box to allow the server to get it's DNS settings automatically, but if you do this make very sure you only check the one for DNS and not the one next to the IP address.
