I have an old pentium 90 PC where, because of problems, I
reformatted the hard disk. I have the original boot diskette with CD-ROM support. When I boot the boot diskette I get the following messages: "Starting MS-DOS"
followed by "CD-ROM device driver MTMCDAS Version 01.16" followed by "# Installed CD-ROM Drive : 1", then I get
"CD-ROM is not detected, driver not loaded." These messages are generated from the entry in Config.sys which
reads: "device=\mtmcdas /d:mscd001 /P:230 /i:11". I believe the problem to lie in the BIOS, but I am not to familiar with what the BIOS needs to say.
