A friend has a Canon IR3000. If he prints from windows using a PCL5 driver, the color is fine. If he prints from Unix using PCL5 codes, the color image is rendered as grayscale. I only know of one PCL sequence relating to this, <esc>&b0M, which is supposed to render color.

That sequence is NOT in the windows output, and does not help in Unix.

The windows output has some binary data wrapping the PCL code, so I suspect the answer is in there somewhere. I guess that by default the printer is in some kind of "toner save" mode that can somehow be disabled.

Does anyone have any knowkedge of this?

Uncle Rick?

I don't have an answer for you, but if you send me a sample of your 'windows output ... binary data wrapping' I'll see what my analyser makes of it.

Send to D_a_n_s_D_a_d_@_b_t_i_n_t_e_r_n_e_t_._c_o_m (remove the underscores first).
