I bought a Canon Image Runner 1019/1023 Series and had the vendor set up the scanner portion of it.

When I tried to scan a document into a Word format, I found this was impossible.

(I have PaperPort and Textbridge installed.)

The vendor told me he had never heard of scanners being able to scan a document into a word processor format!

I thought every scanner made since 1990 could do that.

In any event, is there a way to get this scanner to scan a document into a word processor format?

Thanks.

Microsoft office Tools includes Document Scanning, which is OK for a couple of pages.

We tend to use Acrobat with our iR, which has pretty good OCR, but in general we're not looking to edit the original, just distribute copies in PDF format.

Also on the Abby home page, take a look at their ScanToOffice program. It'll do what you want to Word/Excel or as e-mail attachments.

The scanner itself probably can't scan to a Word doc. It's the software that does it. Scanning options can be a real pain. I work in a Corporate Records department. We scan millions of papges a year and sometimes finding solutions to scanning issues can be a real pain.
