I have a Canon BJC620 with Microsoft Windows Printing System for the BJC620, which I really like. It gives me up to the minute sound and visual indications of what is going on with my printer. I can clean, realign, delete, etc. and do all sorts of things with the printing system. It came with the BJC620 in two disks. I use Windows 98SE.
Problem, suddenly a few months ago when I would try to print, the printing system box would show that the "Cable/Power Not Connected" and I couldn't print anything. Even when I tried to use the printer buttons and get a test page this box would come up.
I found out it was not a problem with the cable or with the Parallel slot on the computer by removing the printing system and putting the old BJC600 drivers on line. It works fine with those drivers. (Keep in mind the same software I removed works fine with my IDENTICAL computer).
I have reinstalled the Canon BJC620 software twice and each time the box shows Cable/Power not connected and I have to remove the software even to get the BJC600 drivers to work again.
I've done the usual things, even checking to see the printer is set up EXACTLY like the one that works.
Help. I really want to run the printer with the software that came with it.

After uninstalling the Microsoft Windows Printing System software, go to Control Panel/Printers, and delete the printer from there.
Then, reinstall the printer using the installation instructions that came with it, or use the 'Add Printer' wizard(at the above location) if you do not have the instructions, and reinstall the software.

If no luck, then it's possible that something is conflicting with the software.
Do a clean boot to troubleshoot it:
