I'm jumping into the middle of a mess here... Help?!?
The computers were already configured a certain way and by a multitude of volunteering administrators. So I don't know who to go back to. Anyhow, a client machine (Windows 98) cannot logon to the Windows 2003 server. The error message states, "The network could not validate your username and password..." The username has been used on other machines (Windows 2000 +).
From what I have read there is validation conflicts with Windows 98 on a 2003 server. Unfortunately I can't even get on to the hard drive of the 98 machine to see what the settings are. The installation was done to add it directly to the network without the option of being able to logon to the local machine. So my questions are this:
How do I access the hard drive of the Windows 98 machine without loging on to the server, i.e. bypass the login prompt?
How do I readd the computer to the server? A new switch was put in place (10/100 Ethernet Hub/Switch) which I read could be a problem with the Win 98 connection.
