Hi,

I am using windows 2000 server with IIS 5.0 and I am hosting my registered domain viz a dynamic ip. I have some friends on the interenet to check my connectivity. Everything is fine, except on IIS 5.0, i cant run my website on default port (80), i just change the port number to for ex. 3001 and tell my friend to try it and my page opens remotely.

What is wrong in this case?. How can i run my site on the default port (it works on the default port on my LAN)

Any chance your ISP might have port 80 blocked to prevent people from running web servers?

It could be that another web based program could be using that port. For instance a web based email client running on the same machine as the web server. Check what other programs are running on that server, and see if they are web based. It may work on your lan becuase YOU don't have any other program that uses port 80.

Good Luck
