Cannot use IE6 Windows Update on NT4.0 SP6

When I use windows update from the menu with IE6 on our NT4.0 SP6 server, I get a blank white screen that says "DONE" in the bottom menu. Same situation if I manually go to the Microsoft site.
I'd like to put in some patches & updates from Windows Update but haven't been able to in months because of this.

try to clear your IE cache by going into the tool --> internet option

one last resort will be reinstall the IE6 with SP1, download the small version from Microsoft

Last week I reinstalled IE6 SP1 three times & once yesterday. I've repaired it a bunch of times. I've emptied the cache. I've cleared the Temp folder, etc. Nothing seems to work. Just a plain white page when running Windows Update.
