I cannot update any anti-spyware programs! I have updated some by taking good/updated files from my other system and placing in same place as original but cannot solve this problem so the computer updates the software when scheduled.

Software includes:
SpyBot
Ad-Aware
MS Anti-Spyware
Spware Doctor
Pest Patrol
SpyCatcher

I can scan the computer with HOUSECALL, Panda and BitDefender!

Problem started out that I could not surf the net or see the SYSTEM32 folder. I can now do both but the updates will not work. XP update will not work either and do not want to install SP2 until the system is clean!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Download hijack this from the link below. Please do this. Click here:

to download HijackThis. Click scan and save a logfile, then post it here so
we can take a look at it for you. Don't click fix on anything in hijack this
as most of the files are legitimate.

Download the Hoster from: UnZip
the file and press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.

Download DelDomains.inf from here:

Rightclick DelDomains.inf and choose install.

Used Winsockxpfix to fix the internet problem but not sure what solved the viewing of the SYSTEM32 folder! Have scanned so many times finding different issues, have lost track and need a break from the search.

Also cannot stop WMPLAYER from starting each and everytime the system starts...

Could any of the entries in the restricted sites for IE cause the system to not update any/all of these programs?

Below is the recent log file:

Download the pocket killbox

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Delete on
Reboot. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each
of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has
the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file on next reboot. Click
Yes. It will then ask if you want to reboot now. Click No. Continue
with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of
these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box. Then click yes
to reboot after you entered the last one.

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not
exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you
don't miss any.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\auto_update_uninstall.log

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will
have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download AproposFix from here:

Save it to your desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Then please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the
Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click aproposfix.exe and unzip it to the
desktop. Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat.
Follow the prompts.

When the tool is finished, please reboot back into normal mode, and post a
new HijackThis log, along with the entire contents of the log.txt file in
the aproposfix folder.
