Hello - I installed SPS2K3 and the first problem was that is thought i had a SQL server when in fact I did not. Second problem is when I uninstalled it, SPS2K3 was still in the add/remove programs listing and it cannot uninstall! I click remove after the wizard comes up and I get the following errors. Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server Setup window "Installation ended prematurely because of an error." then I clicked ok and this error came up Add or remove programs window "Fatal error during installation." I tried manually removing the program from
but in the IIS part I could not delete the MSSharePointAppPool even though I had changed everything else to DefaultAppPool. I need help! and I don't want to call MS and pay $250!!! if anyone can give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated!

hmmm..need more info..but here's a shot...

In ADD and REMOVE PROGRAMS, do u see WSS installed? IF its not there, install WSS only and once its installed, remove SPS03 first, then WSS. It should work..For some reason, SPS03 craps out when uninstalling if u uninstalled WSS first....

Good luck! [bigglasses]

Hi
not sure how far you got with the manual install but if all that is left is the default app pool and it won't delete be brutal and tear off IIS! Clear out all the install directories and the MSDE if it is left.
Then put IIS back on then SQL + SP3 then install SPS03
TechMc is spot on, always uninstall SPS03 in the reverse order in went on i.e take off SPS03 then WSS then SQL last. A world of pain results if you try it any other way!
If you want some tips on installation drop me a line.

skimmingtonr - unfortunately I uninstalled WSS before SPS2K3 which is why i have this problem. It seems that you are familiar with my situation with SPS2K3. Also, when you said to tear off IIS, did you mean uninstall it? I am unfamiliar with the term "tear it off" please let me know if you have any tips! Thanks a bunch.

I intalled WSS and still get the same error message~ Help!
