Hey,I read all the threads on connecting to NAM (using IP:192.168.110.10 thru .12 with the right password of (1020000) but still getting "error communicating to server"; then decided to do a quick reboot but still getting the same error. Now, here are good points of trobleshooting 1)my laptop do show the connection to NAM using of course a crossover cable. 2) I'm using NVM 4.0

Thanks in advance!

I tried using the NVM Manager to connect and when I gave the wrong address I was able to get the "error communicating with server" message. if I had the correct address but wrong password I got immediately a "invalid password" message.

did you change your laptop to be in the same subnet as the nam? by that I mean you should have your laptop's ip address as 192.168.110.X with the X being anything other than 10 thru 12.

ok, its making since now; but how in the world do I change my laptop subnet to be the same as the NAM meaning ip address, im using XP pro.

Thanks for your technical assistance!

Go to Properties on the local area connection. Go to properties on the internet protocol. Nice thing about XP is you can enter an "Alternate Configuration" for NAM hookups. Once you do it should reset your IP to the alternate, because you are not on your normal network.

That's about all the info I have time for. I hope it makes sense. If not, talk to your IT person to walk you threw the above stuff.

anyone out there can correct me on this....go to your desktop my computer icon, then go to control panel and bring up networking go to the protocols area and look at the properties. you will want to specify an ip address here but write down the old address cause you will probably need to go back to it.

this should be vague enough to get you started in the right direction but cautious enough to go slowly and read your help files
