I cannot stop MS Exchange Internet Mail Services on the services and need to shutdown if there are modification in MS Exchange.

I also notice that the CPU usage on the task manager is always 100%, 99% in which is always being used by store.exe. I increase the paging size to no avail. I also notice that the memory usage is low.

Win Nt 4 SP 5. also having some problems in shuting down. Cannot continue and have to turn off from switch.

Thanks!!

What version of MS Exchange, and if the latest what service patch?

There was a known problem with a memory leak in earlier versions of MSX and SP2.

I've also seen this happen if there's a mail loop taking place.

If an employee has forwarded his work mail to his home account, but also has forwarded from his home account to work, a loop will take place.

Checking the message logs should be able tell you if this is the case :)

You should be running NT4 SP6a by now. Upgrade Exchange to service pack 4. This cures a lot of the store.exe problems. Make sure you have enough RAM for your organisation.

We had similar issues, and the first thing I would do would be to check if you are running Exchange 5 SP2. I would then install SP6a on the server you are running it on.

There is also a few "Exhange fixes" out there, that are command line driven. But, I really think if you have both patches it will correct the problem.
