Dears,

I have dual windows versions:
- Windows XP Home Edition on C: drive.
- Windows XP Pro on D: drive.

I'm using the pro version, once i was starting my pc, it restarts automatically before seeing the GUI "windows desktop".

I had tried to use the safe mode with all its possibilities, resotore last known good configuration but with no effect it always hanged on the drivers loading process and restarts.

Then i had moved to the home eddition version to try to solve the problem by using the antivirusses and spyware detector but no effect also.

I found one more problem .. i was using user accounts in ma pro version ... and dont use in home edition .. when i tried to open the admin folder in the documects and settings the access was denied although the mcafee has scanned all files there.

Please if anyone could help me specially on the second problem as all of my documets are stored in my documents folder which is access denied ...

and regarding the windows problem if no solution found .. i can re-install the operating system again.

Thanks for ur time .. and sorry for disturbance.

Regards,

With regards to the second problem you will need to take ownership of these folders, unless you used EFS to encrypt the files. To take ownership see this page
Note that as the article states as you are using home you will need to start in safe mode.

As for the first problem you need to diable the automatic restart so that we can see the error message that is appearing. On the safe mode menu (F8 after BIOS screen) - There should be an option for "Disable Automatic Restart on System Error" or something like that. Select that option and instead of restarting it should display a blue screen with an error. Let us know what that error is and we should be able to help you further.

Hopefully the BSOD may show when you disable Automatic Restart, if your lucky it may also list any driver causing the problem at the end of the information on any BSOD. This driver can be prevented from loading via the Disable command in the Recovery Console.

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

Try running ChkDsk D: /r from the Recovery Console, followed by ChkDsk C: /r.

An easy to follow recovery console description when unable to start computer due to corrupt registry.

This is a layman's version of Q307545 in simple language.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
