Good Day!

I'm pathetic that I cannot start the MSSQL Server 2000 anymore that I got this message -

17052 :
Database 'model' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. See the SQL Server errorlog for details.

Since the SQL Server is not runnable and I cannot trace what's got problem. Can anyone give me a clue?

With million thanks

It can't access model and since it needs this for tempdb it can't start.
should be in samedirectory as master.
I assume you've checked memory and disk space and looked at the error log.

Have a look at the model.mdf and .ldf files and maybe copy from another system - restoring from bachups if necessary.

Other than that think you will need to re-install/rebuild.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy.

Thanks nigelrivett!

I have replaced the file with the backup one and the server can run now.
