Cannot Start Outlook

Most evenings, when I start up my Windows 2000XP PC, I go for Outlook to get my email. Many times I receive a message stating "can't start Outlook ... can't be accessed. Close any application that is using this file and try again." There's nothing else on as far as I know. What's going on here? Thank you.

Next time it opens, click HELP>DETECT AND REPAIR. Then install all critical updates.
