Hi, I have a 2000 server with Exchange 2000 running. It has been running for some months now with little or no problems. (mainly due to advice on these forums).

This morning all PC's (they are running XP pro and Outlooks 2002) are not able to log into outlook. The error message is "Cannot Start Microsft Outlook". The attempt to log onto the Microsft Exchange Server computer has failed".

I can ping the server, see other shared directories on the server. I have checked all of the MS Exchange services and they all apear to be runnung fine. There are no event logs showing on the server or any of the PC's that related to exchange or any user conflict.

Help.

I have uninstalled Oulook and reinstalled to no joy. Also I have installed outlook on the server but it cannot connect to exchange.

I have searched the threads as I can remember this from before but cannot find any direction? Please help

Is the information store mounted? Go to System Manager and right click the message store. Does it say Mount or Dismount the store?

I remember solving similar problem by creaing new profile for the users involved. give it go

Youlie

I have looked at the store and is says mount store. When I do this i get an internal error. It asks me to restart system manager and/or exchange information store process. ID no C1041724.

I have done both and rebooted the server but the store will not mount.

I am trying to find out what this error message is. Any ideas?

What version of Exchange is this? Standard or Enterprise. If it's Standard, you have a 16GB limit on the store, so check the store size.

I'm Certifiable, not certified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

Thanks for the help re mounting the server. Was a lost link in the previous nights backup that left some log files corrupted. Tried the Microsoft fix but that was rubbish.

Thanks for your help anyway
