I am using Firefox (the latest version) in Windows XP. I could not start it. When I click the shortcut, nothing happened. I looked at the Task Manager and there was no Firefox in either Application tab or Process tab.

I did a configuration change before the problem occured. The change is to eliminate the "Restore Previous Session" dialog.
Here is where I got the tip:
I am not sure that is the source of the problem because the tip worked before on another xp computer. Maybe I made a typo when making the change.

The problem seemed to be related to profile, because I could start FF using "Run as" another administrator user.

I tried the DOS command "firefox.exe -profilemanager" but could not start the Profile Manager.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to get into the "About:config" screen without starting firefox?

My guess is since it started with run as, its related to the credentials.
quickest check is to create another admin and see.

After several tests, I found out that the issue is realted to user account. I tried to use FF with a non-adminstrative account, "seaport", an account in "Users" group. Strangely, I was able to start firefox with another non-administrative account.

Desperatly, I logged into the administrator account, uninstall Firefox and reinstall it. I could start FF in a non-administrative account, but still could not start it in the "seaport" account. I was so surprised that the issue even survived an reinstallation.

Any suggestion?

Here is the bottomline.

I have reinstalled Firefox.
For the same user name, firefox can start if the user is administrator, but cannot start if the user is not.
When the user is in administrator status, I have used Profile Manager to delete the default profile and re-create a default profile. But the problem persists.
All other accounts on this computer, whether they are administrators or not, have no problem starting firefox.
My objective is to use the computer as a non-administrative user most of time.

Any ideas?
