Hi,

I have an unusual problem, these are the steps i am taking

create new database
get external data >>>> link tables
window pops up with files type
select OBDC
nothing happens and window for selecting files type closes

OS = XP service pack 2
Access 2003

does anyone know why this would happen

Regards

Paul

Are you on a network? Is the OS Home or Pro verson of XP?

Can you get to the ODBC Connections through Administrative tools from the Start menu?

From what I can tell you probably need to do a re-install of office.

Will it work on any other machine or is the symptom propogated to all other machines and users as well.

Hi Andy,

No this seems to be isolated to 2 machines, I did try to repair office but with no luck.

Looks like i will have to follow your suggestion and try a full re-install
