Cannot set process environment

Hi,
Only root can log onto the system, a "su USER" from root
displays the message "cannot set process environment". Thanks for help.
 
why someone else than root should log in ? ;-)

seriously , i found that
>Sounds like your users don't have write access to the /usr directory
>try (as root) the command:
>chmod 755 /usr


Of course you mean read/execute access to /usr, users must not have
write access. 755 is correct.
