gang if I am trying to send e-mail out via command line in linux using sendmail. It appears that some e-mails can get to the outside but others can't. I get the famous 550 error of host name not in dns and the 553 domain of sender doesn't exist. I tried modifying my sendmail.cf and hosts file with the same results. Can anyone shed any light on why I can reach some outside addresses i.e. xxx@yahoo.com and not other domains? Thanks for all responses this is really been challening.

Check your internal DNS / BIND setup and make sure you are querying a valid external DNS(forwarder) in /etc/resolv.conf
